February 8 & 9, 2008 The Feliciana Nature Society and Rosedown State Historic Site will host the 5th annual Camellias in the Country program on February 8 & 9, 2008. The two-day event will kick off on Friday evening, February 8, at 6pm with a camellia showing, waxing workshop, and reception at Market Hall on Royal Street in Saint Francisville. Lunch included in the price. The program will continue on Saturday, February 9, beginning at 9am, at the visitor center at Rosedown State Historic Site. The morning session will feature Rosedown manager Patricia Aleshire leading a workshop focusing on an overview of camellia care, including common insect and disease problems, and a demonstration of the propagation technique of air layering. Lunch at Audubon Café will be followed by an extensive walking tour of Rosedown’s historic gardens where participants can view some of the best heirloom and contemporary varieties of camellias on the grounds. A $20 registration fee covers the wine and cheese reception on Friday night as well as the Saturday program and lunch. Proceeds benefit projects of the Feliciana Nature Society.
